Donut recipes are the craze in our lives lately. If you missed my post awhile back we started our farmers market donut business, 13 Donuts Bakery this year.
I started out wanting to just focus on regular yeast donuts, but then one day playing around in the kitchen, these gluten free banana donuts were born.
Now we have gluten free banana based, sweet potato based and pumpkin based.
I never expected them to be as popular as they became. So we started out just making vanilla and chocolate iced.
As popularity grew, so did my ideas for flavors.
This flavor stemmed from of all things being sick. When I am feeling under the weather I crave citrus.
I could eat oranges upon oranges. Drink orange juice upon orange juice. But an orange donut just didn’t sound appetizing to me.
I always crave lemon flavored desserts, but I also go to chocolate. But this weekend lemon won.
These lemon glazed doughnuts met my every expectation.
They pair perfectly with the sweet banana flavored donut, making a sweet and sour taste.
I loved this icing as a glaze to just drape a slight sour taste of the lemon.
These doughnuts pair perfect on a hot summer day with a glass of lemonade to go with it.
