Lately I have been all about the chocolate. I have been incorporating it in oatmeal, lattes, protein cookies, smoothies and straight out of my
stash jar of chocolate chips.
A little secret about me, I used to hate chocolate growing up. I would turn down chocolate cake, especially if it had chocolate icing. Double chocolate brownies not my thing. And if you asked me to try something dark chocolate, no way. Until this past summer, my boyfriend took the role of the hormonal chocolate craver. But I am happy to say I have finally taken my role as the women of the relationship (kidding of course, but did you know women actually crave chocolate around their period due to a decrease in serotonin).
Somewhere between switching over my eating habits from processed mac and cheese, hotdogs, and lots of lunchables to eating whole foods, whole grains, and minimally processed foods I have grown to not only like dark chocolate but crave the hearty, rich and smooth taste of a good piece of dark chocolate.
Over the past 3 years I have been bitten by the recipe creating bug. And if you are anything like me when you become obsessed found of a type of food or flavor you begin to try to create as many recipes as you can containing the the food.
This double chocolate granola is a direct result of my recent
love fondness of dark chocolate.
