Growing up I always had a problem with acne. I was the girl at the dermatologist that tried every acne cream, topical and wash out there.
My first visit to the dermatologist was my Sophomore year of high school. I was told that my body overproduced oil, causing the constant pimples on my face and back.
After trying every version of acne medication on the market at the time, I got feed up and switched to a new dermatologist where I started acutane.
If you haven’t heard of it, acutane is an aggressive medication that alters oil production in your body. It involved monthly blood tests and visits to the dermatologist.
I have to admit, although it was drastic, it really did make a difference in my face.
As I started to eat healthier, and pay attention to the additives that are added into packaged food, I also started to pay attention to the ingredients in my beauty care. My makeup, face wash, body was, tooth paste.
There are always going to be things that we just can’t have the all natural everything for, like tooth paste for my household, but one thing I did discover is diy coconut oil face wash.
I am someone how also has intense sensitive skin, this diy coconut face wash is worth any amount of time that it requires.
All you need is three ingredients, baking soda, coconut oil and an optional lavender essential oil. I use one cup coconut oil with 2 tablespoons baking soda for the base. Drop 2-3 drops of lavender oil in and mix together.
Your DIY Coconut Oil Face Wash is complete. So how do you use it?
It is a little extra work than the normal face wash routine, but I think you will agree how much it is worth it once you try it out.
I use a wash cloth but you can also just use steam. But get your water running as hot as it goes and soak your wash cloth in the hot water. Pull out the wash cloth and let it cool enough to squeeze out the extra water. Put your coconut oil face wash on your face and place the wash cloth on top.
I wait two to three minutes, before removing the wash cloth and washing off the additional face wash on my face. Add your favorite moisturizer and enjoy the refreshing feeling.
