I am pretty excited to be sharing my weekend recap with you guys today as I headed out to visit a city I have wanted to explore for quite some time. When Randy moved to Savannah back in November of last year I began to fall in love with the city. I love all the history, old building, brick roads, and all of the squares. The trees lined with hanging moss, and the big mansions all around it doesn’t get much more beautiful than that. As many of you have probably heard Charleston, SC is known as the sister city to Savannah. And getting to travel there was on my bucket list.
Finally Randy and I headed out to explore Charleston, and I have to admit it was one of my favorite trips we took yet. Today I wanted to share our Charleston travels with you guys.
Saturday morning we woke up and took Benny for a run, knowing it was too hot for him to go explore the city with us I wanted to get hims some exercise. After our run we headed home to get ready to head out to Charleston. It was about a 2 hour drive to get to the city, and our first destination was Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit on King Street.
If you have been to Hot Little Biscuit you know that their biscuit’s are small, so we went with a 3 for $5 deal. Randy picked out the Blackberry, which was a biscuit with homemade blackberry jam in the middle, the Cinnamon, which was a cinnamon icing layered in the middle of the biscuit, and the Shortbread, which was sprinkled with sugar on top.
After our biscuit stop we headed out to find City Market. We walked through the market some before we found ourself wandering around. We found some really beautiful scenes, and entrances that I snapped some photos of.
After wandering around some we headed to find a coffee shop. We always use Yelp to look for places to check out and The Rise was a 5 star coffee shop only 0.3 miles from us. We both got a Charleston Iced Tea, which was really delicious. I loved the sign and their logo so I had to snap a photo.
After coffee I wanted to go find Rainbow Road. We found it with out even realizing it, and shortly after we stumbled upon the walk way along the dock. It was really beautiful and with the wind it was perfect to stop and enjoy the view of the sailboats around us.
Next up on the list was Water Front Park. We snapped some pictures and it truly was like looking at a post card or painting. There were also two foundations around, it sure was the perfect weather for it.
After Water Front Park we headed off to find something to eat. We ended up at Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar. They specialized in seafood and their raw bar.
Randy got the Seared Red Snapper, that had red rice and fried green tomatoes. I got the Seasonal Salad with Shrimp, that included berries, mixed greens, brie, spiced pecans, and champagne vinaigrette.
After walking around for a couple hours we were tired and decided to head home. The rest of the night included a little cauliflower crusted pizza and some arctic zero ice cream. It truly was a great start to my first day of vacation.
